SCS Sketch Challenge #138

I decided I'd try today's sketch challenge. With my parents' birthday right around the corner - yes, they really have the same birthday - I figured I'd try to make a birthday card for them. I sometimes have a hard time coming up with a card that will work for both of them...why I don't just do 2 separate cards, I don't know; I guess because we've always celebrated both of their birthdays together.

I started with a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" Bayou Blue card front. I then used a 3-3/4" x 5" Very Vanilla layer. The four Certainly Celery tiles each measure 1-1/2" x 2-1/8" and are stamped with various stamps from Double-Line Doodles. I decided they needed something underneath them so I added a Bayou Blue layer under each of them. For the center squares layers, there is a 1/4" difference between all of them...starting with the 1-1/4" Very Vanilla square. I also used Fundamental Phrases for the greeting. To finish the card, I added some paper piercing and popped it up with some Stampin' Dimensionals.

Hope you all have a great day! It is a hot August day here so I plan to spend the rest of my afternoon indoors!!

Just found your blog via the latest card you posted on SCS and I was scanning through your past posts. I wanted to say thanks for sharing all the great cards you make and especially on this one for giving the measurement you used for the pieces. I love cards like this, but I can't ever seem to measure things out right to recreate the sketch. This is so great!
